Artistic Statement

Based in Cullercoats on the Northumbrian coastline, a traditional fishing village and former artists' colony, I paint loose, experimental watercolours, sometimes combining watercolour and other media.

My work reflects impressions of my surroundings while focussing on the area of detail and texture that catch my eye. Torn edge glimpses of the things that interest me, capturing fleeting thoughts around my subject matter. Suggesting rather than recording shape and form and indulging in the natural, flowing properties of watercolour.
