Artistic Statement

After graduating with a Fine Art Degree many years ago painting became my life. I have been a professional artist now for over 30 years, exhibiting nationally. I love the fact my paintings are collected internationally too. In 2006 Sam Mendes bought 2 of my large seascapes as a present for his then wife, Kate winslett who had just finished filming the Titanic.
I fell in love with painting the sea in the early '80's and have neveer lost that obsessive affection. It has providd me with a wonderful way of trying to capture beauty and the great sense of wonder and awe you feel watching a storm, knowing there is something greater than ourselves in the world.
I take inspiration from my beloved North East Coastline and from the sense of something more powerful when we connect with the sea, painting memories and moments that connect me emotionally to places and people. Painting is my life, to create something that connects with others is a joy.
