If you feel strongly about the tide of plastic around us come and have a look at some of the research showing the results of it. Or if you would like to do something about it then there are ways you could help. Even if you are not really bothered see what it means for you and your descendants.
We have a studio for rent with a ceramic kiln for use whenever needed. The terms of the rent would be negotiated depending on the amount of involvement you would want with the gallery. For instance you may want to use the gallery as an exhibition space for which we could waiver commission if you are renting a space and helping run the gallery. If you would like to be involved with the gallery it would be very helpful and would be a good learning experience. We are looking for someone to look after the gallery one day a week as I rely on volunteers to do this. Obviously if you are wanting to exhibit your work in the gallery we would have to see your work.
The gallery is also exhibiting environmental themes so if you have an interest in that area you are very welcome.
We are looking for anyone who is genuinely interested in art to volunteer 1 day a week to look after the gallery. You will have plenty of support and it will be a learning opportunity. You can meet and chat to customers and it is a very social experience. There is also the opportunity to do your own work in the studio area if you like on the quieter periods of the day. Please email, ring or text Rose if interested.
We will give you a date for the summer exhibition soon that will demonstrate the work of the Dove Marine Laboratory’s work on analysis of the stomach contents of seabirds, mainly fulmars. This research is being coordinated in the Netherlands involving many countries around the world. The North East coast is one of the sites used to collect the birds. Be prepared for some grim images and analysis. We hope to make it hard hitting to inspire people to change their habits.
commenced on the 8th of February and will end on Sunday 15th April. We hope you enjoy the ‘Space’ paintings by each year of Seaton Sluice First School and their different interpretations of how they see space. They love seeing their work in the gallery and hope that they feel proud of their work. Some may even want to be artists in the future.
Seaton Sluice First School are exploring Space in this exhibition. The dark skies of Northumberland offer a chance to view the stars quite easily and the children have responded to what they have seen in the skies this winter. They love to see their work in the gallery and we hope everyone appreciates the effort they have made .
The exhibition starts on the 8th of February until Easter.
Stephen works in acrylic and uses a realistic style in order to portray the atmosphere and colour of a scene. His work is delicate and colourful with an emphasis on drawing skills. His subjects are wide ranging and he paints whatever he enjoys the view of.
We are offering temporary exhibition space in the gallery. The temporary space will consist of up to 30m square hanging space downstairs and 25m square hanging space upstairs on screens in the central areas of each room. These rooms can be viewed on the Tower House Gallery Facebook page, showing how a previous temporary exhibition for a local school was displayed. The screens available are white rather than the dark screens shown in the pictures. There will also be display cabinets for 3D work available. The temp. space will have a daily rate rather than sale or return basis and no commission rates. The pricing for hire of the display areas will be:
Downstairs room for 4 days: £120
Downstairs room for 8 days: £200
Downstairs room for 12 days: £260
Downstairs room for 16 days: £300
Downstairs and upstairs room for 4 days: £180
Downstairs and upstairs room for 8 days: £280
Downstairs and upstairs room for 12 days: £360
Downstairs and upstairs room for 16 days: £420
For public bodies such as schools the fees will be halved.
As the gallery is open 4 days a week this is the easiest way to display the prices. There will be staff available in the gallery during opening hours. The selection of exhibitors and availability are at the discretion of the gallery.
If any of the work is seen to be appropriate for the gallery on a regular basis then the exhibitor will be offered a sale or return space in the gallery for these pieces once there is exhibition space available.
The temporary space will be available from 6th July onwards. The gallery does its own promotion online and in various magazines and can promote temporary exhibitions. The exhibitors are encouraged to do their own promotion also as it all helps. If the exhibitor would like to hold an opening evening or event this can be arranged with the gallery. Costing of an event will depend upon the facilities needed.

The Spring pictures from the 5 to 7 year olds from Seaton Sluice First School are now on display in the gallery replacing their Winter pictures. An impressive display with uplifting colours. The exhibition will finish at the end of March.
